OfficeDesktop Announces Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync Patent License Agreement

OfficeDesktop online office to feature Microsoft's leading technology.

ARLINGTON, Va., Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Catalyst Web Services d/b/a OfficeDesktop today announced a patent licensing agreement with Microsoft Corp., to implement Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync as part of OfficeDesktop's online office offering.

The agreement allows OfficeDesktop servers to directly synchronize e-mail and data between mobile devices utilizing Microsoft's Exchange ActiveSync technology. The Exchange ActiveSync protocol enables mobile client devices such as Windows Mobile-based smartphones to synchronize e-mail messages, calendar items, contacts, task lists and other mailbox data with OfficeDesktop.

"This agreement allows OfficeDesktop application servers to directly synchronize with various mobile devices, including those using Windows Mobile, that utilize Exchange ActiveSync," said Bob Mathew, chief executive officer of OfficeDesktop. "Our small and medium-sized business customers have been demanding real-time syncing with their SmartPhone devices for quite a while. Exchange ActiveSync technology enables this mobility and greatly enhances our world-class messaging and collaboration solution. Our wholesale partners were also demanding this capability to stay competitive in the marketplace."

While Microsoft has been licensing the Exchange ActiveSync protocol for mobile devices since 2003, OfficeDesktop joins a growing number of companies licensing the Exchange ActiveSync patents for implementation on a server.

"OfficeDesktop came to us a few months ago because it recognizes, like so many innovative technology companies, that a way to spur growth in our industry is to license patented technology for mutual benefit," said David Kaefer, general manager of Intellectual Property Licensing at Microsoft. "People -- and companies -- want to access email and calendaring information across multiple devices and by broadly licensing Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, we can help the industry develop solutions that address this desire."

Today's announcement builds on the growing industry adoption of Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync by device licensees such as Apple Inc., ASUSTeK Computer Inc., HTC Corp., Nokia Corp., Palm Inc., Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., and Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB.

We all love the many benefits of natural plant oils, used as a deap treatment before shampooing, at home or at the beach, but is there an all-in-one solution for everyday intensive nutrition and modern styling?I am passionate about the benefits of natural extracts with tried-and-tested results, which I have used to develop my own brand (lemon for its acid ph, wheat germ for its fortifying action…). I wanted a product which combined caring and styling effects, and which could be used after shampo...
