Over the course of four weekends in September and October, more than one million consumers turned out at 3,000 Walmarts across the U.S. participated in demonstrations of Straight Talk Wireless Android smartphones. For every consumer who took part in a demonstration, Straight Talk Wireless contributed $1 to Make-A-Wish.
The strong response in the first three weeks of the "One Minute. One Million." campaign led to Straight Talk Wireless announcing on October 12th that it would exceed the original $1 million contribution target.
A Straight Talk Wireless spokesperson said: "Straight Talk Wireless is all about making our customers feel richer and our support for Make-A-Wish is another important way that we are doing that. We are delighted that so many consumers across the nation responded to the 'One Minute. One Million.' initiative. It is our hope that this campaign will encourage millions of consumers to take a closer look at Straight Talk Wireless, which offers cell phone users contract-free unlimited everything service on the nation's four leading wireless networks for just $45 a month. With Straight Talk, you can get the same phones, same networks, for half the cost."
David A. Williams, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish America, said: "The response to this campaign from people across the country was amazing. Each consumer who took part is now part of creating incredible wish experiences for hundreds of children with life-threatening medical conditions. Initiatives like the One Minute. One Million. campaign help us get closer to our vision of granting the wish of every eligible child."
Funds donated by Straight Talk Wireless on behalf of consumers will help grant wishes for children in communities across the country.
