KEW GARDENS, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 12/03/12 -- WGI Holdings, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: WGIH) -- MyBitCloud announced today that it plans to develop applications for the Windows Phone 8 and Surface Tablets running Windows Pro 8.
MyBitCloud plans on developing a Windows Phone 8 and Surface Tablets application that will allow users to access, share documents, photos, music and video from the MyBitCloud storage system.
MyBitCloud 4 Windows Phone 8 and Surface Tablets will allow users to:
- Browse files and folders and Open many file formats
- Download files directly to the device (Over-The-Air Downloads)
- View Photos directly from MyBitCloud Photo Album
- Share files and folders effortlessly
- Stream music to their Windows Phone 8 and Surface Tablets device
Windows Phone 8 is the second generation of the Windows Phone mobile operating system and Microsoft has launched a new Windows Phone marketing campaign in five global markets in November of 2012. The aim of the campaign is to promote the high level of personalization and individualization offered with the Windows Phone 8 smartphones.
"Microsoft Corp. is selling four times as many Windows phones as this time last year, helped by a new version of its phone software for more powerful handsets with faster screens," said Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer.
"Windows Phone 8 has been on sale for a few weeks and is off to a great start," Ballmer said at a shareholders' meeting. Handsets made by HTC Corp. and Nokia Oyj "are getting rave reviews and have initially sold out in many countries."
Strategy Analytics had Microsoft down as selling 2.7 million Windows Phone units during the September to December period of 2011, a figure with which Gartner agreed. Multiply this by four and you will get a figure somewhere around 10.5 million to 11.5 million, taking into account that the analyst's figures are usually rounded for convenience.
"With Windows Phone 8 devices getting great reviews and selling out in many countries, adding support for the Windows Phone 8 should further fulfill our clients' needs and allow us to expend our service into another fast growing platform," said Kyle Bendford, CTO, MyBitCloud.
