Cell phone tower owners have large fleets of mobile generators stored in yards available for rapid deployment when outages occur that outlast the 4-8 hour life of cellular tower onsite batteries. These fleets sit for extended periods exposed to weather elements that can contribute to their failure when they are called into action. The G8700 low power system allows the user to remotely monitor crucial data points including the two most important points: battery strength and fuel level. The low power G8700 operates at 65 micro amps, which is below the self-discharge rate of the idle battery, eliminating any parasitic concerns.
In addition to reliability, rental fleet owners face the challenges of unit theft and detection and monitoring actual usage of their systems. With the built in GPS functionality and movement detection capability of the G8700, fleet owners can track the deployment patterns of each individual backup power system and differentiate between real location changes and incidental movement. In addition, on a real time basis, the owner can monitor the actual run time of every unit in the field, which allows for pinpoint accuracy in usage billing leading to enhanced revenue for the owner.
"The G8700 is the latest product developed by OMN to satisfy an overwhelming need on the part of customers and with a combined universe of hundreds of thousands of mobile generators, the potential growth for this new product is exciting," said Deena Redding, OMN President & CEO.
OMN Vice-President and Founder, Harold Jarrett, will be presenting on a panel entitled: "Doomsday Power – Tapping On-Site Power for Facility-Wide Energy Surety" from 9:30-11:30 am on Wed., Dec. 12, Room S312. Jarrett's presentation "Remote Diagnostics & Failure Prevention on Standby Generator Systems", is a must see for those who want to understand the OMN value proposition. "OMNIMETRIX industry awareness is growing across the globe and our steadfast participation in POWER-GEN conferences continues to put us in front of potential, new and long term customers," stated Mr. Jarrett.
In 1998, OMNIMETRIX introduced the world's first cellular wireless remote monitoring system designed specifically for emergency power generators. OMNIMETRIX's products deliver critical, real-time machine information to customers, while its Smart Service™ software provides remote diagnostics that give users real control over their equipment — no matter where it is located.
