DULUTH, GA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/12/12 -- Connectivity Wireless Solutions, a nationwide leader in in-building wireless solutions, today announced the opening of a regional office in San Francisco. The full-service office is staffed with radio frequency (RF) engineers, field operations, and sales staff to support distributed antenna system (DAS) implementations and wireless data projects in the Western region. The office is located at 41332 Christy Street, Fremont, CA 94538.
"As the second most populated metropolitan statistical area (MSA) on the West Coast, the Bay Area office solidifies our planned geographical expansion strategy, giving us a strong foothold in the Western region," said Greg Jacobs, chief executive officer of Connectivity Wireless. "We continue to see significant demand for DAS across the U.S., as proven by the fact that we have installed systems covering over 50 million square feet of space in 2012 alone. The Bay Area expansion is in direct response to our customers' plans for increasing the number of DAS solutions in the western portion of the country. This demand is primarily driven by exponential increases in wireless data usage."
According to CTIA's semi-annual survey, Americans used more than 1.1 trillion megabytes (MB) of data from July 2011-June 2012, which was an increase of 104 percent over the previous 12 months. The survey also showed that smartphone adoption continues to grow at an impressive rate. As of June 2012, smartphones made up 131 million (41 percent) of the 322 million wireless subscriber connections. Tablet adoption also increased to 22 million, which is nearly 17 percent of all wireless connections.
Jacobs added, "We are also seeing more demand for reliable wireless voice and data coverage for public safety, and we expect adoption of public safety DAS networks to increase in the next year to address updated mandates for the International Fire Code (IFC) and from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)."
Rick Ruff, general manager of the Western region, will manage the operations of the San Francisco Bay Area office. Ruff came to Connectivity Wireless in October, bringing two decades of experience and expertise in design, implementation, and operation of wireless networks and distributed antenna systems. Prior to joining Connectivity Wireless, Ruff enjoyed a long career in senior leadership roles for major national wireless service providers. Rick holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Phoenix.
