KIRKLAND, WA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/14/13 -- VisibleBrands announced today it is moving forward in its business relationship with Zebra Technologies and will be using their wireless indoor location solutions and other technologies as integral components in its impression-based, moment of decision media platform.
Timothy Morton, president of Visible Brands, says, "Wireless indoor location is a rapidly evolving marketplace and Zebra has been with us on the ground devoting brainpower and resources to support our initial commercial deployments. They are an undisputed global leader and innovator in technologies that extend real-time visibility into business operations. They are forward thinking and understand the size and scope of our idea. We owe them a lot of credit for setting the stage for the scaling of our platform in the marketplace."
Unlike other printed, online or mobile phone coupons, VisibleBrands-enabled digital offers require no clipping, no downloading, no mobile phone, and no registration or opting-in. People shop as usual and with a single touch of an in-aisle screen can accept a digital coupon. The offer is "clipped to cart" using location-based, wireless and cloud technologies and the savings are credited automatically at checkout.
After analyzing items in over 5 million shopping baskets and hundreds of thousands of cart paths and purchase transactions, VisibleBrands has written algorithms and developed machine intelligence so it can deliver an offer to a shopper that is not only location-based within one foot, but also contextually and behaviorally based on historic store data and the specific shopping session that is occurring. For instance, if a shopper walks in and takes a grocery cart, that shopper is 92% more likely to be on what the industry calls a "stock up" trip than if that same shopper picks up a shopping basket and this kind of trip strongly correlates with specific products. Or if a shopper accepts an offer for hot dogs, the system can offer the shopper a coupon for mustard or hot dog buns. The system can even correlate the shopping pace and the path with the buying of specific products. All of this information is combined to deliver a more relevant, even customized shopping experience that offers real value and savings to people and real time business intelligence to retailers and brands. And it does not use any personally identifiable information.
"Zebra's solutions provide enhanced visibility from the front of the store to the back of the store, enabling retailers to improve customer satisfaction and achieve measurable ROI," says Jill Stelfox, GM, Location Solutions for Zebra Technologies. "We are excited about our work with VisibleBrands because they take that visibility and the benefits it provides to the next level."
Morton elaborates, "There's so much hype about location-based mobile advertising, but 90% of the time people see it as spam because it's devoid of relevance. In physical retail, shoppers vote with their feet and have intent to buy. That's why the redemption rate for accepted mobile coupons is only 15% while ours is more than 60%. When a shopper touches one of our displays, it's not a click to call, a click to download, or a click to a landing page, it's a click to buy."
The company is exhibiting in both HP's and Zebra Technologies' booths at the National Retail Federation (NRF) Expo in New York City, today through Wednesday, January 16, 2013.
