"Crash Mate is one of those phone apps you hope you never need," says Colin Mahoney, creator of Drivers Legal Helpline "but you'll be awfully glad you have it if you ever caught in an accident." Indeed, as more and more vehicles take to the road, there will inevitably be more road traffic accidents. "This free app is the best witness any driver could ever have after an accident," says Mahoney. "By providing an extra layer of protection for UK motorists, and hard proof and evidence for insurers, we make an already stressful situation a little bit easier for all involved."
Crash Mate records such data as to the driver's exact location (with overlays on a Google map), the other driver's registration number and other important information. There is also a voice and video recording facility for recording vehicle damage and admissions of liability. Crash Mate can also locate and call the nearest emergency services - police, ambulance or fire department. It provides step by step guidance on what to do after an incident. If the user chooses to do so, the app will send all information to Drivers Legal Helpline for immediate assessment by a qualified road traffic solicitor giving a response within one hour. However, the app can also be used for storing information without giving Drivers Legal Helpline instructions to act.
"Crash Mate is constantly being improved upon" Mahoney notes, "updates and new versions will be totally free"
Choosing to create Crash Mate as a Smartphone app was an easy choice for Drivers Legal Helpline "There is no question that the mobile device is the fastest growing online search tool today," says Mahoney. "As millions of people worldwide migrate to Smartphone usage, the number of people who are downloading apps and browsing the web on their phone is growing at an incredibly rapid pace. It is for this reason that Drivers Legal helpline has made its innovative and informative app available free to every UK motorist. This is a UK first for sure, and possibly a worldwide first for all drivers of motor vehicles."
Mahoney and his colleagues predict Crash Mate will be invaluable to more than just regular vehicle drivers and their insurers; it will also be welcomed by lawyers, insurance companies and fleet managers who will recognize that it represents innovation and mobile technology at its best.
Besides being an avid motor enthusiast, Colin Mahoney is a software developer and marketer of legal services in the UK, with over 20 years of applicable legal experience. Of Drivers Legal Helpline he says, "We're still a small firm of six who also happen to understand law, software design and what the public demand by way of protection."
Mahoney reiterates that Crash Mate is a free app, and the company intends to keep it that way. "We will never charge a single penny for this app, ever," he says.
Currently vehicle drivers can download "Crash Mate" from Google Play, and the Apple Store.
